VAT formulas used (France / EU)

Gross = Net × (1 + rate)
Net = Gross ÷ (1 + rate)
VAT = Gross − Net

This calculator applies to French and EU VAT rules only.

VAT calculation example

A professional invoices for a service at €100 net, subject to the standard 20% VAT rate.

  • The VAT amount is €20 (100% of € 20).
  • The gross price, including all taxes, is therefore €120.

Conversely, if the displayed price is €120 gross, the net amount is €100 (120 ÷ 1.20), and the corresponding VAT remains €20.

The same calculation method applies to other VAT rates (10%, 5.5%, or 2.1%), simply by adjusting the coefficient used.
