The revised Syntec index measures changes in the cost of services in 2024 in the engineering, IT services, research and recruitment consultancy, and professional training sectors.
Its value reflects the evolution of salary costs (including charges). It is used, in particular, to index contracts for fixed-price projects, IT management, or software maintenance.
The revised Syntec index is calculated and published by the Syntec Federation (not INSEE) or by paying services such as “Le moniteur“. It was published in September 2022, replacing the old Syntec index.
Only the Syntec Federation will now monitor and publish the revised Syntec index. A “connection coefficient” has been calculated, equal to the ratio of the Revised Index of August 2022 and the last computed value of the old index, similar to 0.97975, i.e. (280.6 / 286.4). This adjustment coefficient may be necessary for contractual reasons.

How to use the SYNTEC index?
Rule:
Service contract prices can be adjusted on each contract expiration date based on a formula incorporating changes in the Syntec index. The reference index used will be November or October.
Method for implementing the Syntec 2024 index formula

Tip:
For price revisions on the first of January of each year, it is advisable to take the November or October Syntec index as a baseline for practical reasons. Indeed, the December index is only known at the end of the following January, which is late for applying contractual price increases.
